The Spanish partner CTA (Corporación Tecnológica de Andalucía) recently presented the SYMBIO project at the fifth forum ‘Circular Economy. The industrial sector towards circularity’ organised by Funseam-Fundación para la Sostenibilidad Energética y Ambiental and Fundación Repsol.
Circular solutions play a leading role in defining the foundations of the new industrial policy that Spain and Europe must develop to continue moving towards a climate-neutral production model that increases competitiveness.
In the industrial sector, circularity allows for increased added value and productivity. This involves reducing production costs and substituting intermediate inputs, including raw materials. It also implies a commitment to savings, energy efficiency, renewable energy, and the reintegration of goods into production. Likewise, the most outstanding contribution of the circular economy to industrialization is redesigning industrial processes from the initial stage, which leads to radically different business models.
